The night was cool, and the breeze on the back of her neck felt like the whisper of a long lost lover. She shivered at memories of times past and a smile spread across her face as she shook herself from her reverie; “Focus” she internally chided herself. Her pace quickened, as her destination came into sight. Her demureness turned into something else…just behind her eyes and right at the corner of her mouth as it curled towards her opened nostrils. She almost wanted to stop and take a moment to deep breathe in, the stench of fear and loathing, but her mission did not allow for such luxuries.
Despite the crowd in the street, going in and out of shops, mingling with each other, laughing, talking and telling stories, she was oblivious to any of them. The lives they led, the struggles they had, the successes they achieved…where they were going, or where they came from…it was as if they didn’t even exist.
At the end of the street, she took a sharp right in a dark alley and disappeared through an obscure door that led down a dark and dank hallway. The lighting was the mere equivalent of a lighter’s flame, that lit each calculated step; she moved as if she had been there before, determined, unflinching and exhilarated.
She finally entered a room with a desk, where she could see the silhouette of the only one other occupant in the room. This moment was what she had waited her entire life for. Smiling, she sat down as if someone had hit the slow-motion button, and a breeze rattled the papers on the desk in a pure movie-like fashion. Candace Owens lifted up her black “widow-esque” veil, looked insanity directly in the eyes and said, “Hold my beer”.
And thus, “Blexit” was born. The brainchild of this black, extreme right-wing personality. It is a completely false narrative meant to urge black voters to leave the Democratic Party. So let’s talk about this “movement”, equivalent to the “basement” schematics of a Jacob Wohl business plan.
“We Free”…(Cringe). That’s the “Blexit” slogan. Now, I don’t know about you but there are many, many, many things I can say are wrong with this, but the most important aha moments about it are…
- Essentially, Ms. O is saying, we aren’t free now, but by joining a website that says we are, Poof, Pow, Magic…”We Free”?????? And if that’s the case, why didn’t I get that memo? At best, it’s a cloying attempt at capturing some semblance of black American expression.
- Twitter accounts with a history of pushing Kremlin fake news are playing a disproportionate role in amplifying the call for African-American voters to hop on the “Trump Train”. It turns out that approximately 40,000, or 16 percent, of the “Blexit” tweets we collected, came from accounts that previously pushed Kremlin propaganda in one of two key Russian disinformation campaigns
I think it’s important to examine who exactly Candace Owens is, and what she has stood for in the past. It’s also important to point out that she was born in 1989, 5 years prior to my own child. She’s 29 years old. Let that sink in while I move on.
Candace…Miss O, (if you’re nasty), is most famous for her ultra-conservative views, her pro-Trump rhetoric and vocally critical condemnation of Black Lives Matter and Police involved shootings. In 2007, as a senior in high school, Candace experienced her own first bout of racism. Turns out it was the son of the then mayor, Dannel Malloy, who made threatening phone calls to Candace. Her family, (she lived with her grandparents), sued the Stamford Board of Education and received a $37,500 settlement when it was ruled that the city did not protect her rights.
She dropped out of school in her junior year, where she was studying for a degree in journalism. (Maybe she should have stayed? Just a thought). Taking her experience into activism, she attempted to create a site, SocialAutopsy.com in 2016, that would report bullying and track the user’s digital footprint. I want to meet THAT Miss O…dont’ you?
Needless to say, that idea lasted all of about 20 minutes. The moment critics realized that she was opening up people’s anonymity, they gave her a taste of her own medicine and began posting HER private details online.
It was then that we saw the emergence of Candace Owens 2.0.
“I became a conservative overnight … I realized that liberals were actually the racists. Liberals were actually the trolls … Social Autopsy is why I’m conservative”
By 2017, Miss O had become prominent in conservative circles for her pro-Trump commentary and for criticizing liberal rhetoric regarding structural racism, systemic inequality, and identity politics. Miss O has since characterized Trump as the “savior” of Western civilization and has vehemently argued that Trump has neither engaged in rhetoric that is harmful to African Americans nor proposed policies that would harm African Americans.
The term “Blexit”—a mix of the words of “black” and “exit”, mimics the word used to describe the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union. Miss O said that her “dear friend and fellow superhero Kanye West” designed merchandise for the movement, but the following day, West denied being the designer and disowned the work, saying
“I never wanted any association with Blexit” and “I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in.”
On October 31, 2018, Miss O was sent a trademark infringement cease and desist letter by an attorney for “Blexit”, a Minneapolis-based non-profit founded in 2016 that is developing a black-led credit union.
Oooopsie Miss O. I hear wefree.com is available? And speaking of which, let’s debunk the “We Free” Myth, and talk about how Ms. O is getting all this Russian help, then I’ll let you get back to your day.
“Across America, black people are beginning to question political orthodoxy. We have been quietly building an ecosystem of free thinkers and at long last, the intellectual dam is breaking.” – Candace Owens
She’s right, but what does that have to do with political affiliation? She’s calling for “metaphorical arms” against the Democratic party and spreading false rhetoric and vitriol on every single one of her platforms, but liberals are the mob? Democrats lie to blacks, and somehow Republicans are the answer? She has lost her “Blexit” mind.
- Denouncing history doesn’t make us intellectually free, it proves that ignorance and intelligence are not mutually exclusive.
- Following Ms. O doesn’t’ make us intellectually free, it makes us cult-ish.
- Spreading lies about one party in favor of another doesn’t make us intellectually free, it makes us part of the problem
- Why are handouts in the black community considered a Democratic problem but when Republicans bail out corporations and farmers with BILLIONS, I hear crickets? Re-purposing to fit your own narrative doesn’t make us intellectually free, it makes us poor and angry.
“We free”…(Snorts loudly)…”Chile, please!” Since we are going THERE, Ms. O.
There are numerous reasons why black voters have become one of the Democrats’ most loyal voting base, despite what misguided conservatives think. The entire country has witnessed the GOP transformation from the party of Lincoln to the party of Trump, voter suppression, and open decimation of the first black president’s ENTIRE policy agenda, are just a start.
Instead of confronting this barbarity in good faith and repairing the Republican Party, high-profile black conservatives misuse their platforms and continuously draw inaccurate, historical parallels to argue that blacks, “can’t think for themselves” or are “being lied to by Democrats”. Generally speaking, black people are intelligent enough to recognize that there are many ways in which today’s realities are rooted in Jim Crow, but being lied to by Democrats is not one of them.
So, it’s no wonder that Kremlin operatives have attached to Ms. O’s newly lit blow torch, asking blacks to leave the Democratic party: it helps them with their narrative as well! Twitter accounts known for pushing Kremlin disinformation campaigns are also helping make “Blexit” trend, a Daily Beast investigation reveals.
Despite the recent troubles, the flood of tweets promoting the “Blexit” hashtag on Twitter gives the impression that African-Americans are rejecting the Democratic party in droves. It is not, it’s a Russian operative to make us believe there is. Just like they tried to do with the Black Lives Matter movement and the flu shot.
Researching for over 15 hours ending Friday afternoon, the Daily Beast captured more than 250,000 tweets magnifying the “Blexit” movement. All from purported Russian Operatives.
Yet, I digress, it’s hard for me to see how one solitary event 2 years ago, made Ms. O dramatically transform. How she could betray her true identity and her country. That’s not what activists do. They don’t run and duck and hide when things get difficult. They don’t tolerate division from foreign adversaries, and they don’t promote false narratives. I guess Ms. O prefers the “Legally Blonde” version of activism?
*Someone get this lady a small dog with a “Blexit” shirt and matching hat.*
Who knows what sister girl’s problem is, but I leave you with this final thought. As Democrats now control the House, this “We Free”, exit the black party narrative was based on a premise that ignored a very raw and real African American history. This DID NOT happen in droves, it’s not happening in trickles for 2020. It’s only happening in the mind of a few individuals. Do you see what’s happening, are you so hurt that you can’t see past your own agenda? So I say to you, Ms. O, and your unpropitious minions…”Blexit Stage Left!” #StayWoke #VoteBlueToSaveThisCountry
