Marsha Blackburn is a terrible Congressperson. Why would she be a better Senator?
Republican Marsha Blackburn has been in Congress “representing TN-07” for the past 12 years. Her representation however, has not been for the people of Tennessee, but rather the special interest groups and foreign government ties that contribute to her pocketbook and influence her votes. I would know, because I have been her constituent for the past 12 years.
Now she wants to be our Senator.
Here are the top 10 reasons Tennesseans should JUST SAY NO to Marsha:
1. Marsha won’t stand up for Women.
Despite being a woman, Marsha consistently votes against women’s rights to reproductive freedom and for fair pay. In fact, when voting against the Lily Ledbetter act, she proclaimed that “Women don’t want equal pay”. She has insisted on being called a “congressman” rather than a woman. She has voted to defund Planned Parenthood multiple times
2. Marsha helped create the opioid crisis.
She co-sponsored legislation that defanged the ability of the DEA to track shipments of drugs while pocketing thousands of dollars from big pharma.
3. Marsha supported the overturn of Net neutrality.
It wasn’t because she believes in less government regulation. It was because of the thousands of dollars in her campaign coffers from special interest groups like Comcast.
4. Marsha opposes all gun reform efforts.
Her argument? If you ban guns, then people will just use hammers and hatchets anyway.
5. Marsha will gladly take away the rights of LGBTQA citizens.
She voted against the re-authorization of the Violence Against Women act, openly admitting that she did so because it included protections for LGBT, Native American, and undocumented victims of domestic violence.
6. Marsha doesn’t care if you have health insurance.
She has repeatedly voted in favor to repeal ACA and has no plan to replace it.
7. Marsha enjoys being part of the party of corruption.
8. Marsha believes in rewarding her family over her constituents.
She’s a firm believer in the same sort of nepotism politics that Trump ascribes to. Marsha’s paid her son in law over $50K in 2004 for campaign work despite having no opponents that year, and to whom she directed $1 million to lobby in ’08 while claiming the two “don’t discuss issues”.
9. Marsha is a willing participant in the Russia meddling in our elections.
She has suspicious ties to Russians, even bringing them to Middle TN in 2016 to be “election observers”. Marsha’s longtime campaign manager Kline Preston introduced Alexander Torshin to David Keene, who was the president of the NRA. Funnily enough, Marsha has an A+ rating from the NRA, taking thousands from the NRA in campaign contributions.
10. Marsha won’t listen to her own constituents.
When she held a townhall in her district, she falsely accused attendees of being bused in from other districts. Her constituents even tried to show her their driver’s licences to prove they were her constituents. Since that townhall, she has only held phone conferences where the questions are carefully pre-screened to be from supporters only.
So Tennesseans, you can vote for extremism, or you can vote for common sense progress in Phil Bredesen. Phil won all 95 counties in his last statewide election and left the governor’s office with 72% popularity rating. Phil will help Tennesseans get access to healthcare and will be a bipartisan voice in a Senate that desperately needs people to work across the aisle to get things done. Support Phil Bredesen HERE.
JUST SAY NO to Marsha.
