Call your Senators and tell them to demand the FBI have a free hand to fully investigate the sexual assault claims against Judge Kavanaugh.
Everyone knew Brett Kavanaugh was an extremely conservative judge when he was nominated, raising serious questions about the future of Roe v. Wade, the pre-existing coverage provision of the ACA, affirmative action and the ability of a prosecutor to force a president to comply with a subpoena.
Most Republicans have appeared willing to ignore these issues and rush through an approval of Kavanaugh, without receiving most of his records or fully investigating credible sexual assault claims, and despite obvious lies about drinking and yearbook terms in his testimony Thursday.
However, in a surprise move on Friday, Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) of the Judiciary Committee, backed up by Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), demanded that the FBI background check be reopened for a week to investigate the credible sexual assault claims.
Lacking the votes to confirm Kavanaugh, Senate Republican leadership and the White House were forced to allow a reopening of the FBI background investigation. However, all indications are that despite vigorous denials from the White House, Don McGahn, the White House counsel, is working with the Senate Republicans to make the investigation a sham with a predetermined outcome.
Multiple sources, including the New York Times, NBC, the Wall Street Journal and CNN report that the FBI is being given strict limits on the investigation, including what witnesses they may interview. At this point, they are only permitted to interview 4 witnesses and the “investigation” could declared complete on Monday, October 1st (Today).
The handling makes the reopening of the investigation a sham; the FBI itself must determine the steps to be taken in investigating the sexual assault claims.

I’m outraged. I want [Sen.____] to demand the FBI have a free hand to fully investigate the sexual assault claims against Judge Kavanaugh.[Tell personal story if appropriate and you feel comfortable.]
I have many questions about Kavanaugh’s fitness for the Supreme Court, and, at a minimum, a full FBI investigation, not one hampered by the White House, into credible sexual assault allegations is necessary.
A full investigation will need to include looking into the excessive drinking alleged to be involved in the assaults.
Neither the Senate nor the White House should direct or limit the FBI’s ability to fully investigate the credible sexual assault claims.
The New York Times reported last night (Sunday) that the probe may wrap up today (Monday). It’s important the Senate advise & consent, and you can’t unless a real probe is done.
