Senators: Vote NO on Kavanaugh for Supreme Court

Your Action

Call your Senators at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to vote NO on confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Background

Everyone knew Brett Kavanaugh was an extremely conservative judge when he was nominated, raising serious questions about the future of Roe v. Wade, the pre-existing coverage provision of the ACA, affirmative action and the ability of a prosecutor to force a president to comply with a subpoena.

Most Republicans have appeared willing to ignore these issues and rush through an approval of Kavanaugh, without receiving most of his records, and despite apparent inconsistencies in his testimony with the documents the committee has received.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Judiciary Committee, rejected calls for reopening the FBI investigation to look into allegations of sexual assault by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and others. Instead, he held a hearing on Thursday in which only Blasey Ford and Kavanaugh were permitted to testify. Blasey Ford was an extraordinarily compelling and convincing witness. Kavanaugh evaded many questions, angrily denied all allegations, gave non-credible explanations for sexual terms used in his yearbook and accused the entire hearing of being a partisan plot.

Trump of course is totally supporting Kavanaugh’s denials. Grassley has scheduled a committee vote for Friday, and a floor vote is planned for next week. At least four – perhaps more – Senators are undecided.

All Senators need to know how important it is to their constituents to vote no on Kavanaugh.

Script

This is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in [ZIP].

I urge [Sen.____] to vote NO on confirming Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Kavanaugh does not belong on the Supreme Court.  His testimony and documents raise serious issues and show he has not been straightforward about:

– whether he has committed sexual assault;

-whether a president can be investigated or subpoenaed;

-Roe v. Wade;

-whether the ACA pre-existing conditions requirement is Constitutional; &

– whether affirmative action is Constitutional.
