The event will feature an “Activism Fair” at 10am with activities for children & voter registration, followed by speeches and a rally at 11am.
The last weekend in June is a busy one in Portland, so finding a location for the local #FamiliesBelongTogether rally wasn’t easy. Organizers doggedly pursued any lead they could find, and eventually (only days ago) found a good and available spot on the North Park Blocks. Details are below, largely lifted from the event’s Facebook event page.
I will personally be there. I hope to see many in attendance to condemn the human rights abuses of this administration. Our demand is clear and not negotiable: Reunite families, end family detention, and end ruthless and indiscriminate prosecution. All families belong together.

10 a.m. – 11 a.m. “Activism Fair”
- Designed with kids and adults in mind: crafts, postcard writing to new immigrant children to welcome them to America, a sidewalk chalk art project, voter registration, informational tables, a pledge card drive against IP 22, and more.
11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Rally
- Speakers will include Kayse Jama of Unite Oregon, Josielyn Kremm, a USMC veteran & mom whose parents came to the U.S. as undocumented immigrants, and more.
- There is NO MARCH PLANNED. There wasn’t time to get the necessary permitting.
12:00 on…
- After speeches, the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education will be open and people can (with admission) view exhibits such as Discrimination & Resistance: An Oregon Primer.
- 5 blocks away is the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center.
This administration is attempting to wear us down. Come out on Saturday and show them that it’s not working. That we will fight injustice to the end.
